DIY T-Shirt

For those of you who don't know already, I have a one year old son and I absolutely love dressing him up. Buying cute little t-shirts with prints or phrases is just a must (ladies with babies, you'll know what I'm talking about)! Any excuse to dress him up right? This time though, instead of just buying one I decided to make my own print on his t-shirt instead

The t-shirt print I made here was used with a few very simple materials and it's unbelievably easy to make! The best part is, it doesn't have to just be for a baby, you can make a print for your handbag, a pair of jeans, or even your own t-shirt. Read on and I'll show you exactly what you need and how to do it.

What You'll Need:

1. Plain white t-shirt
2. Fabric paint
3. A paintbrush
4. A paper printout of what you want to stencil
5. An iron
6. A spare thin cloth

Step 1:
Print out your stencil, it can be anything; a phrase, number or symbol. Here I have used the number 99 in Arabic writing. Be aware of the size you choose to print it out in. Make sure you'll like it on the t-shirt, whether it takes up the whole space or if it's a small print in the corner.

Step 2:

Cut out the inside of the number. Make sure the edges are neatly cut out so you don't have a ragged edge on your final product.

Step 3:
Place it exactly where you want it to go.

Step 4:

And start painting. (Note, before I started painting, I placed a cardboard inside the t-shirt so the paint doesn't seep onto the back of the t-shirt). Usually one layer of this stuff is enough but if you want it slightly darker, don't be afraid to go for another layer. 

Step 5:
Leave it to dry. I left it for a couple of hours and it completely dried. After you've let it dry, you will have to Iron it to make sure the paint doesn't peel off. Be sure to place a thin cloth on top of the t-shirt so it doesn't ruin your iron or melt off!

Voila! Heres the handsome prince in his new t-shirt!
