£5 for Calais

Saturday, 9 January 2016

Hey guys, so I don't usually do this, but there is a huge crisis in Calais and we need your help! Please donate just £5 HERE.  It will provide them with a big bag with 2 weeks worth of food, toilet roll, aspirin plastic cutlery, foil blankets and more costs £25.150 of these costs £3750.It's also going to cost £400 to get five cars out there and back. £5 means a lot more to these poor people than to you or me.. if you could just find the kindness to give a fiver it would really really help these vulnerable innocent people that just do not have adequate food or shelter.

Thank you

Winter Wonderland

Sunday, 27 December 2015

Now I know what you're thinking- Christmas is over. You've probably had your annual dose of festivities already. There's the over-the-top cheesy Christmas movies, seizure-inducing Christmas lights and everything else that comes with this time of year. Well I don't celebrate Christmas anyway. Nonetheless, when I heard about the Winter Wonderland that opened in Hyde Park I couldn't help but go. Even the biggest Scrooge can't deny the wonder that winter wields. I've also felt that there is something quite mesmerizing about the coldest season of the year (in theory anyway).

A Trip to Calais... The Jungle

Sea view from ferry

So I'm sure you've all heard of the refugee problem in France where all of the refugees have fled from their homes looking for a safe country that will take them in. A couple of weeks ago, I took a trip up there arranged by a few friends who really wanted to make a difference including my Husband and Mother-in-law. We took supplies such as food, clothing, tents and warm blankets.

We took a one day trip on a ferry going to Calais. I left my son with my mother who looked after him for the day as I thought taking him with me didn't seem like the best choice. The ferry up to Calais was beautiful. The sun was shining, the sea was calm and the views from Dover to Calais were just exquisite.

My First Blogpost

Saturday, 28 June 2014

 Hi everyone, I'm brand new to this whole blogging thing. Not sure how to start this first post but here goes.
Let me just start by introducing myself, I am a young Muslimah, newly wed, Co. owner of a company called Barakah, for those of you who havn't heard of it, it's an abaya company run by my sister (owner of blog SheWasVain) and I, where we make our own abayas collection by collection for you lovely ladies to buy.
I chose the name StepInsideMyHandbag for this blog because it was the easiest way of me saying "step inside my life, if you want to see what I get up to" =].
And since we're on the topic of handbags, I just thought I'd give you guys a preview of a couple of my handbags and what goes on while I take photographs of them.
Enjoy =}
