heavily beaded abaya

Have you ever had the frustration of having to layer clothing to make it more modest? And then you come across a beautiful top that you really want to get but decide not to because it has no sleeves? Well for all of you ladies nodding, this is a post for you and could even mean your solution!

I came across The Hooded Clothing Line not too long ago actually. The company was recently started by a lovely sister named Batool. Her main aim was to create an alternative to under layering for sisters who want to layer. What I mean by under layering is wearing long-sleeved modest t-shirts under tops, dresses and even abayas.

Why do we need it?
I know a lot of us sisters have that problem where we want to wear a pretty short sleeved top, but find it hard to. We'll often opt for a long-sleeved cotton t-shirt which ends up leaving us feeling too hot. Especially during the summer months! We want something we can just breathe in!

What is it?
The lovely sister designed a product called the SleeveIt. A SleeveIt is a long-sleeved crop top that you can wear underneath your clothes. It's short, so it stops just underneath the bust. This is great because we don't need any excess fabric to keep making us hot.

The sleeves of the SleeveIt are obviously long to help us to keep modest. Batool has designed a few different types, stretchy ones, coloured ones, satin ones and some of them even have zips! What I love about the ones with zips is it makes wudu so much easier! This is perfect because when wudu time comes, you can just easily unzip across the arm! (Well, to be honest, they're all wudu-friendly so she's pretty much thought of everything.)

By this point, you're probably wondering what exactly is the difference between a SleeveIt and a long sleeved t-shirt? Well, the fact that it is a crop top for one, and the fabric differences make a huge difference. The SleeveIt's are made out of beautiful lightweight fabrics. Because they have been specifically made for wearing underneath clothes, Batool has made sure she designed it to feel like you're not wearing too much.

I was lucky enough to be sent one of these lovely SleeveIt's for a review. I was sent the Elegant Cuff Sleeveit and received it recently. When it arrived in the post, and I had opened it, honestly, I was so shocked by the fabric. It was absolutely stunning! Pictures do this particular product NO JUSTICE! Honestly, the fabric is so beautiful and silky, even better than I had anticipated.

This particular SleeveIt has a gold zip detail going across the arms up to the elbow. I'm a huge gold lover (I bet you're getting sick of hearing this) but I really am. So this cute little touch actually makes me want to put my arms up which I wouldn't usually be confident enough to do when I wear a kimono abaya.

So, the SleeveIt was originally made for people who want to be able to wear short sleeved tops and dresses but I am an abaya wearer and it's still really useful for abaya wearers too. There are particular abayas where the arms are huge, kimono abayas, and while they look beautiful to wear, unless you have snaps on the wrists, they constantly ride up revealing your whole arms!

Now, for someone who's trying to be modest, that can be quite frustrating. The SleeveIt really came in handy for me in a sense where I can wear an abaya, wear my SleeveIt underneath and not feel too hot. On top of that, I'll feel confident to raise my arms up and not worry about revealing too much.

Like I said earlier, these SleeveIt's have zips so unzipping to make wudu feels like a breeze! It's lovely to know that it has been made for our needs because let's be honest, we're always having to find alternative and creative ways of staying modest. To have a company that's created a product to help us in this way makes me quite excited. I can't wait to see what else this lovely sister has in store for us!

Oh and one other way I found it can be worn is by itself! But of course for us sisters that will probably just be at home. It can be a simple crop top worn with some high waisted trousers or a skirt. I love this idea for dressing up at home. And even better, for meetups with the girls, it'll be so nice to dress up with!
